Whitney M. Young Scholars Program Senior Closing Auction
Welcome to the annual virtual Whitney M. Young Scholars Program Senior Closing Auction! Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the information below before proceeding to the live auction. The event will be announced soon.
Only Senior Whitney M. Young Scholars who have digital Bonus Bucks can participate in the Senior Closing Auction.
Bonus Bucks are the incentives Whitney M. Young Scholars earned during the years in the program by maintaining high academic standards, demonstrating appropriate behavior, active participation, and preparedness for all Educational Clinics. Only digital Bonus Bucks can be used to bid on college-specific merchandise during the Senior Closing Auction.
As soon as you choose the first item to bid on, you will be prompted to log in or register a new account. Please make sure to use your full name as a username and a valid email address for creating a new account and choose a password you will remember. Use the “Bid Now” button to bid on an item you like. The items you bid on will appear in the “My Account” tab. If someone outbids you, the notification will be automatically sent to the email address you specified. Please note that the Auction Administrator has a right to delete a bid if a bidder does not possess the amount of Bonus Bucks necessary to win the bid. If your bid is deleted, you will receive an email notification.
The auction will close at 11:59 PM on April 19, 2025. The highest valid bid will automatically win. A valid bid is one that does not go over your Bonus Bucks total, and one that (when added to other items you’ve placed the last bid on before midnight) does not go over your Bonus Bucks total.
Example: If you placed bids on three items and your bids were the last placed before midnight, the Auction Administrator (Miss Julie) will total up all of the digital Bonus Bucks you used to successfully bid. If this total EXCEEDS your total Bonus Bucks amount from Schoology, the Auction Administrator will select which items you will ultimately get so that you are within your allotted Bonus Bucks total. Be strategic when placing bids on multiple items, as you may not always get your preferred items.
Hint: The Auction Administrator – in the past – was more likely to award items that cost the most Bonus Bucks FIRST. That is to say, if you bid on three items but exceed your total (and you can only afford two of the three items), she will often give you the two more expensive items. The third, cheaper item will be awarded to the second highest bidder (if within their total Bonus Bucks allotment). If the second highest bidder has gone over, the item will be awarded to the third-highest bidder, and so on.
In the end, the Auction Administrator has final say. Use this to decide your strategy when it comes to how you use your Bonus Bucks in the Auction.
You will receive an email notification about the bids you won and with instructions on how to get your items within a week or two of the Auction.
You will have to schedule a time to pick up your items at the Lincoln Foundation office. The details will be provided in the email notification you receive upon winning the bid.
If you experience any difficulties or issues with the bidding process or have any specific questions about the Senior Closing Auction, please contact the Auction Administrator at [email protected].
